Rededication of the Skokie Valley Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution

  • Church on the Hill, Sanctuary 784 Sheridan Road Winnetka, IL, 60093 United States (map)

Join the members of the Skokie Valley Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at 3:30 PM outside the east wall of Christ Church on Saturday, May 3, 2025 to rededicate the bronze marker installed on this site in 1977.  It originally was placed as a marker of the site of the first church and cemetery in Winnetka as well as honored the builder of the church, who presented it with the cemetery to the diocese of Chicago.  It also represents the site of the first tavern, built by Moses Patterson, from Vermont, in 1836. He was a courageous pioneer who was traveling from Fort Dearborn to Milwaukee and conceived of a resting place for other weary pioneers.  He is also laid to rest in the little cemetery.
