UPCOMING EVENTS
Confirmation Class
Confirmation is a two-year program designed for youth in grades seven and eight where they explore their relationship with themselves, each other, the Church, and God. The youth will delve into the overarching theme of the Church’s Tradition as they seek to understand how and why Episcopalians worship the way we do. Accompanied by faithful adult mentors, confirmands will be encouraged to learn about their faith by asking questions and openly expressing doubts. There will be opportunities for large group discussions as well as small group reflections, giving the confirmands opportunities to create meaningful relationships with their peers and their adult mentors.
For more information, please contact Wendy.
Coffee and Conversations
Experience the joy of being part of the Christ Church community by getting to know your fellow worshipers at this casual social gathering. Gluten free and kid-friendly treats will be offered.
Youth Group
Youth Group provides a welcoming space/time for youth in grades 7 to 12 to have fun, unwind, reflect, and serve others. It will serve as an opportunity for them to retreat from their normal routines, enjoy a meal, and have fun and fellowship with each other. There will be opportunities for off-campus fun activities (bowling, mini golf, movies, etc.) as well as offerings to use their time and talents to serve others. The focus will be on creating an environment of ‘being’, rather than on ‘doing’.
For more information, please contact Wendy.
Adult Forum: The Virtues & Vices of AI in Pop Culture
Beginning with R2-D2's stubborn trek into the desert, the droids of the Star Wars universe turn out to be surprisingly rich icons of fidelity, devotion, and care. In the first two sessions of our series on ethics, science fiction, and AI, we'll watch some beloved film clips, and maybe some less familiar ones, that ask what these fictional machines can teach us about remaining fully human in the age of Big Tech.
For more information, please contact Rev. TJ.
Friends in Faith
The Friends in Faith gather weekly to pray aloud for each person on our parish prayer list. Following this prayer time, we observe ten minutes of silent prayer or meditation and then enjoy a discussion on a spiritual topic presented by a group member. For more info, please contact Elizabeth Clemmitt or by phone at 312-618-1238.

Adult Forum: The Virtues & Vices of AI in Pop Culture
Data the android officer’s lifelong quest to make meaningful art explores what it means to strive toward goals that skill alone can never help us achieve. The Borg offer a strong foil: a collective existence where all seeking has been efficiently and violently stilled. Across two sessions we’ll ask what we lose when we reach for tools that promise to too-easily resolve our creative and spiritual restlessness.
For more information, please contact Rev. TJ.
Builders Sunday Supper
Please join us for this special Sunday evening which pairs making the world a better place and sharing a meal. Our planned service project is perfect for families with school-age children (our Builders cohort) because they can pitch in and help too. We will make 150 lunches for families in the area who are food insecure. Connections for the Homeless helps over 5,000 people each year who are food and/or housing insecure. Afterwards, a family-friendly meal of pizza, salad and beverages will be served. It’s a special, sacred, Sunday-Supper-way to prepare for the week ahead.

Children and Youth Service
Everyone loves this annual service where the children and youth do everything: they bake the communion wafers, decorate the sanctuary, usher, read the Bible passages, give the sermon and lead the prayers. Interested participants, please contact Melissa or Wendy for a role. As always we are very excited to continue this wonderful tradition.
Children and Youth Ministries Volunteer Recognition
A very important part of the Children & Youth Service is when we recognize our amazing Children & Youth Ministry Volunteers. We are so grateful for their guidance, devotion and faithfulness as Confirmation mentors, Sunday School teachers, and program leaders for our youngest members. They make it all work.
Adult Forum: The Virtues & Vices of AI in Pop Culture
Frank Herbert's Dune universe is built on a galaxy-wide prohibition against “thinking machines.” What emerged to replace them is a strict but wise philosophy of what it means to be human: embodied, discerning, and capable of making genuine choices. In our final two gatherings, we'll explore Herbert’s demanding vision of human capacity, what happens when we artificially constrain it, and practices for reclaiming freedom on a daily basis and throughout our journeys as human beings and disciples.
For more information, please contact Rev. TJ.
Service of Confirmation
We invite the entire congregation to stand in support of our six 8th graders and adults who will be confirmed /received into the Episcopal Church. We will join them as they publicly reaffirm their baptismal vows and receive the Rite of Confirmation. A reception will follow.
For more information, please contact Wendy.

Appalachia Service Trip
This June, a team of eight missioners from Christ Church will travel to Appalachia to live out our call to love our neighbors. Their mission is practical and profound: assisting with home repairs to ensure local residences are warmer, safer, and drier. We ask for your prayers for their safety and for the community they will serve. Are you feeling called to get your hands dirty and make a difference? We are still looking for additional hands. Contact Wendy if interested.
