Christ Church has revived the ancient practice of blessing the entry door to one’s home. This tradition dates to medieval times in Europe and starts the new year with a symbol of blessing and peace. Leading with Love Series
A collaboration with Holy Comforter Kenilworth and Holy Spirit Lake Forest - Black Erasure in Our Midst. Glencoe used to have a thriving black community that was well integrated into the life of the village. Systematically, that community was dismantled. Please join us to visit the Glencoe Historical Society’s wonderful exhibit and meet with some of its curators. We will hold a pilgrimage to the sites of erasure, pray and witness to them, and gather at St. Elizabeth’s afterwards for hot chocolate and reflection. For more info, email Rev. Children's Chapel
Children age three through 6th grade, please join us for our first Children’s Chapel of the year which will have a Halloween theme. Everyone is invited to wear costumes. Children’s Chapel offers a child friendly worship experience with songs, a story, a children’s message, and prayers. It is an opportunity for all the children to worship together in one space. The Rev. Cynthia will be our clergyperson. After the 9:30 service is over, there will be Halloween-themed activities for the children at Coffee and Conversations in the Prevost Cloister (and outside, if the weather is nice.) Children’s Chapel is held on the last Sunday of the month and replaces Sunday School classes.

Annual Meeting and Brunch
All pledging members of Christ Church are warmly encouraged to come and participate. Annual meetings are perfect for the season of Epiphany as we will hear how our church helps reveal and spread the love of God in Christ into the world. We’ll review the past year and a look ahead to the coming year which promises to be momentous as we celebrate Christ Church’s 150th anniversary. We will also acclaim our new class of Vestry members and new Warden and have a wonderful brunch after the meeting to celebrate.

Pillars Clean Up & Clear Out, Lunch at Double Clutch
Parishioners ages 45ish-65ish are invited to gather together at Meals on Wheels Northeastern IL for a special service project that includes cleaning up and clearing out. Transport bags will be refreshed and dried so meals can be delivered for the next week. Afterwards, join one another for fellowship and a late lunch at Double Clutch Brewing Company.

Children's Procession of Light
In celebration of the Feast of the Presentation and Candlemas, children are invited to bring all the candles that will be used in 2026 into the sanctuary for a blessing. Older children, youth, and youth choristers lead the procession with younger children following.

Youth Group provides a welcoming space/time for youth in grades 7 to 12 to have fun, unwind, reflect, and serve others. It will serve as an opportunity for them to retreat from their normal routines, enjoy a meal, and have fun and fellowship with each other. There will be opportunities for off-campus fun activities (bowling, mini golf, movies, etc.) as well as offerings to use their time and talents to serve others. Adult Formation: The Creeds
Focusing on the Great Creeds of the Episcopal Church: the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed. The Book of Common Prayer describes them as “statements of our basic beliefs about God.” Where do they come from? By what process were they adopted? Do they continue to summarize our basic beliefs about God? We will also examine the Athanasian Creed, which proclaims the nature of the Incarnation and of God as Triune.

Legends Prep & Serve at Care for Friends
Parishioners ages 65ish and older are invited to join the Care for Friends chef who will provide instruction on how and what to cook for lunch for guests in need of a hot meal. After the preparation, serve and break bread with the guests to create conversation and community. Care for Friends is housed in Church of the Atonement, an Episcopal church in our diocese. They are also one of our Benevolence Grant Recipients. Afterwards, enjoy coffee with one another at local Loaves and Witches coffee shop.

Pancake Supper and Palm Burning
Enjoy delicious pancakes and bacon prepared by our confirmands. We will also have a short liturgy to burn the palms from Palm Sunday last year, making this year's ashes to be used at our Ash Wednesday services.
Children's Ash Wednesday Service
A wonderful way to introduce your child(ren) to Ash Wednesday and the season of Lent. This 30 minute service offers ashes, a sermon, Communion, and songs. While especially appropriate for children, parishioners of all ages can attend.

MLK Day of Service
Join other volunteers in making a difference at the MLK Day of Service hosted by the Volunteer Center. Activities will be made available by the Winnetka Community House. However please feel free to bring 4 yards of fleece fabric and a pair of scissors, to make blankets, as well as donations of NEW socks.

Backgammon Tournament
Join us for the inaugural Christ Church Winnetka Backgammon Tournament. Never played backgammon…we’ll teach you. Only play with champs…we’ve got you covered. Never used a doubling cube…here’s your chance. Had a bad experience the last time you played…we’ll cure you of that. Taizé Service for Epiphany
During the season of Epiphany, a time when light is a frequent theme, we invite you to enter a world of peace and beauty with us in our candle-filled worship space.

Wrap our neighbors in love, as we create cozy, no-sew blankets. These handmade blankets will be donated to the Winnetka Community House during the MLK Day of Service on Monday, January 19. Let’s come together to honor Dr. King’s legacy of service and make a tangible difference for those in need, one blanket at a time.

Epiphany Children's Procession and Reception
Please plan to join us for a celebration of the Feast of the Epiphany at our 9:30 a.m. service with a visit from the Three Kings played by youth choristers processing towards the altar in costume, each singing a solo verse of “We Three Kings” from the pulpit. As the Royalty carry their gifts forward for the Christ Child, a Children’s Procession will follow behind them carrying gifts for the Food Pantry. If your child would like to be part of the Procession, please contact Melissa at melissa@christchurchwinnetka.org.
After the service, the celebration continues during at a reception with Kings Cakes, prizes, and activities for the children. At our Epiphany Photo Booth, the children are invited to dress up like royalty and get their photo taken with the Royals. We meet weekly in person and on Zoom to practice the method of Christian meditation known as Centering Prayer. After twenty minutes of silence, we discuss the practice and read the book, The Path of Centering Prayer, by David Frenette. For information, please contact Elizabeth Clemmitt.
Friends in Faith
The Friends in Faith gather weekly to pray aloud for each person on our parish prayer list. Following this prayer time, we observe ten minutes of silent prayer or meditation and then enjoy a discussion on a spiritual topic presented by a group member. Youth Group: Celebrate Epiphany
7th to 12th graders are invited to join us as we spend time outside (weather permitting), walking through the neighborhood, gazing at the stars (if they’re out), and remembering the courage and faith of the Wise Men on their journey to find the Christ Child. Inside, we’ll explore the ancient tradition of door chalking and its meaning for our homes and hearts. Dinner will be served and we’ll conclude the evening with a special dessert: King Cake.

Confirmation Class
Confirmation is a two-year program designed for youth in grades seven and eight where they explore their relationship with themselves, each other, the Church, and God. The youth will delve into the overarching theme of the Church’s Tradition as they seek to understand how and why Episcopalians worship the way we do. Accompanied by faithful adult mentors, confirmands will be encouraged to learn about their faith by asking questions and openly expressing doubts. There will be opportunities for large group discussions as well as small group reflections, giving the confirmands opportunities to create meaningful relationships with their peers and their adult mentors.
