UPCOMING EVENTS

Centering Prayer
We meet weekly in person and on Zoom to practice the method of Christian meditation known as Centering Prayer. After twenty minutes of silence, we discuss the practice and read the book, The Path of Centering Prayer, by David Frenette. For information, please contact Elizabeth Clemmitt.

Women's Bible Study
Now through June, in addition to practicing twenty minutes of the meditation method called Centering Prayer, we are reading through The Path of Centering Prayer: Deepening Your Experience of God, by David Frenette.
Our discussions, led by the Rev. Dr. Gloria Hopewell, are always lively and thought-provoking! We also stream the sessions on Zoom.
For questions or other information, please contact The Rev. Dr. Gloria Hopewell.

Leading With Love Breakfast
Join us for a collaborative, contemplative morning as we commemorate the close of our first year of Leading with Love: Racial Awareness Through Christ series. Breakfast will be served as we gather with parishioners from The Church of the Holy Spirit in Lake Forest, Holy Comforter Kenilworth, and Christ Church Winnetka. We will synthesize the year of learning with a discussion led by Ian Grant-Funck from Holy Comforter, as we dive into what was learned and where we are headed for the upcoming year. Please reach out to Rev. Cynthia Rigali-Lund with questions and to reserve your space.

Parish Picnic
Celebrating Pentecost (wear red), our Wonderful Choir and our Missioners join us for a BBQ lunch with games and activities for the children. Club 56 will delight you with the sweet treats for purchase at their Annual Bake Sale.
We anticipate a big crowd so we need “All Hands on Deck”. We’ll do the grilling (hot dog, brats and hamburgers) and you bring the sides and salads. Vegan and gluten free choices will be available.
RSVP here. Let us know what you will bring by going to Sign Up Genius to “pitch in” and help.

ASP Missioner Commissioning
Youth and adults missioners attend Service to receive blessings and good wishes from the Congregation.

Women's Bible Study
For Lent and the Easter Season, The Thursday Women’s Bible Study will seek wisdom and light in Ladder to the Light: An Indigenous Elder’s Meditations on Hope and Courage:
Native America knows something about cultivating resilience and resisting darkness. Steven Charleston offers words of hard-won hope, rooted in daily conversations with the Spirit and steeped in indigenous wisdom. For all who yearn for hope, Ladder to the Light is a book of comfort, truth, and challenge in a time of anguish and fear.
Former presiding bishop Michael Curry says, “Here is wisdom born out of a lifetime of listening faithfully to the voices of God. Here is wisdom we need for the living of these days.
++Rev. Steven Charleston is retired Episcopal Bishop of Alaska, former dean and president of the Episcopal Divinity School, and an elder in the Choctaw nation.
We meet on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. in the Library at the Maple Street location.
Books will be available for purchase in the church office, but come even if you haven’t had the chance to read in advance! Our discussions, led by the Rev. Dr. Gloria Hopewell, are always lively and thought-provoking! We also stream the sessions on Zoom.

Confirmation Class
Confirmation is a two-year program designed for youth in grades seven and eight where they explore their relationship with themselves, each other, the Church, and God. The youth will delve into the overarching theme of the Church’s Tradition as they seek to understand how and why Episcopalians worship the way we do. Accompanied by faithful adult mentors, confirmands will be encouraged to learn about their faith by asking questions and openly expressing doubts. There will be opportunities for large group discussions as well as small group reflections, giving the confirmands opportunities to create meaningful relationships with their peers and their adult mentors.
