Women's Bible Study
Women’s Bible Study: A Spiritual Walk with Scripture, Our Faith Tradition, and Our Lives resumes on Thursday, September 11 for 9:30-11:00 AM in the Library at the Parish House on Maple Street. The sessions will also be available on Zoom, and books may be purchased in the church office.
For the fall season, we will be studying the Gospel of John using a book/video resource by Amy-Jill Levine. Levine is a New Testament professor and scholar who describes herself as “an unorthodox member of an Orthodox Jewish synagogue and a Yankee Jewish feminist who until 2021 taught New Testament in a Christian divinity school in the buckle of the Bible Belt.”
This curriculum is described:
John’s Gospel offers readers a new language—of being born anew, of living water, of wind and spirit, of the “I am”—that enhances how we understand the divine, how we experience the world, and how we participate in the mystery of faith.
With her characteristic wit and charm, Amy-Jill Levine introduces readers to the world of the Gospel of John by unpacking the stories in their original context, along with examining how the text is read today. This book considers the Gospel of John in its entirety, moving through the Gospel and exploring the prologue, the wedding at Cana, the Samaritan woman at the well and the woman caught in adultery, the healing of the man at the pool and the man born blind, foot washing, Mary Magdalene and Doubting Thomas, and the Lamb of God.
All curious women who wish to deepen their spiritual lives and relationships with God and one another are eagerly invited to be part of this Spirited, interactive weekly gathering!
For questions or other information, please contact The Rev. Dr. Gloria Hopewell.

Incognito: the Play
Incognito is a one-man, autobiographical play in which over the course of 50 minutes author/actor/podcaster Michael Fosberg portrays over a dozen characters as he tells the true tale of the search for his biological father. For the past 15+ years, this non-traditional, unique entertaining presentation has captivated groups from as far ranging as The Boeing Company, to the Dept. of Homeland Security, to various churches, high schools, and beyond. Through Incognito, Fosberg’s search for deeper understanding highlights the courage it takes to live life from a place of authenticity and heart. The morning will begin with an optional continental breakfast at 9:30 a.m.; the play at 10:00 a.m.; and a post-show discussion will take place until 11:30 a.m. This program is part of the North Shore Episcopal Collective, Leading with Love series that is a collaboration with CCW, Holy Comforter and Church of the Holy Spirit Lake Forest. Email Rev. Cynthia with any questions. The play is free but please register.
