Frank Herbert's Dune universe is built on a galaxy-wide prohibition against “thinking machines.” What emerged to replace them is a strict but wise philosophy of what it means to be human: embodied, discerning, and capable of making genuine choices. In our final two gatherings, we'll explore Herbert’s demanding vision of human capacity, what happens when we artificially constrain it, and practices for reclaiming freedom on a daily basis and throughout our journeys as human beings and disciples.
