We are hosting a group of families March 10 - 24, 2024. If you’d like to volunteer to help, please sign up here.

Family Promise Chicago North Shore

Family Promise helps transitionally homeless families with children stay out of shelters – and together -- while they work to return quickly to permanent housing. They provide shelter, meals, job search assistance, financial planning, and other support for families, while working to address the root causes of their homelessness.

Christ Church has been partnering with Family Promise since 2015 to provide emergency shelter for these families, while they work to create a pathway to sustainable self-sufficiency and stability.

Several times a year, for a week at a time, Christ Church offers families a safe place to sleep, healthy meals, hospitality and fellowship. Parishioners help host our guests by purchasing supplies and food, helping with setup in Church House before they arrive, making and serving nutritious meals, providing evening activities for the children, and serving as overnight hosts. During these visits, we get to know the families as we share meals and relaxed evenings together. Volunteers often find that they receive more than they give.

If you have questions or want more information about hosting at Christ Church, please email Elizabeth Parkinson.
