According to the Book of Common Prayer, Holy Baptism is full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ’s Body the Church. The bond which God establishes in Baptism is indissoluble. Holy Baptism is customarily administered within the Eucharist on a Sunday on these four feast days: Easter Vigil, Pentecost, the Sunday after All Saints’ Day, and the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord. At Christ Church, we also offer baptisms during the summer in the lake.
Each candidate for Holy Baptism is sponsored by one or more baptized persons. Sponsors for infants, commonly called godparents, present children, make promises in their own names and take vows on behalf of their candidates. Parents and godparents meet with the clergy to discuss the meaning of Baptism, their duties to help the newly baptized grow in the knowledge and love of God, and their responsibilities as members of the Church.
Thank you for filling out the form. If you have questions please contact the church office at 847-446-2850 or return to Rev. Christopher Powell, Rector.
Christ Church depends financially on the generosity of its members. We invite you to consider making a donation to the church on the occasion of your child’s baptism.
