2019 Holy Week Schedule - Easter Sunday 9 & 11:00AM

2019 Holy Week Schedule
at Christ Church

Sunday – April 14 – Palm Sunday

8:00AM – Eucharist & Distribution of Palms
9:30AM – Eucharist with full choir & Distribution of Palms

Monday – April 15 – Journey with Jesus – 5:00PM

On Monday evening of Holy Week, we get together at the church to walk with Jesus on his last week. This is especially for children but lots of others will come too! We will use our imaginations a lot this evening! We will travel around different areas in the church that are set up like places Jesus went during his last week. We will visit the temple, we will have a meal together, we will celebrate Communion, and we will go to the Garden of Gethsemane, just like Jesus did with his disciples so long ago!

Thursday – April 18 – Maundy Thursday – 7:00PM

If you have not been with us for one of these services before, please think about coming this year! We are trying some new and different things to celebrate this beloved night in Holy Week, which for many, is one of their favorite services of the whole year.

We will start with an Agape meal. “Agape” (Ah-GAH-pay) means “loving-kindness” in Greek. Modeled after “The Last Supper,” it is a simple meal with special prayers. Then we will process down to the sanctuary for choral Eucharist. The space will look different, with lots and lots of candles (like Taize services, if you have been to one of those) and a new and different seating arrangement. For anyone who wishes to participate, foot washing is part of this service, in remembrance of Jesus doing this for his disciples on that night.

Are you wondering what “Maundy” means? It comes from the Latin word for “commandment,” and refers to the commandment Jesus gave his disciples that night, to love each other as he has loved them.

Please join us! YOUR presence will complete the evening.

Friday – April 19 – Good Friday – 12:00PM

Saturday – April 20 – Easter Vigil – 7:30PM

First Eucharist of Easter with full choir. We will celebrate a baptism as a part of this traditional service. The service is followed by our first Easter celebration with a party in the McClain Room.

“Bring a Dish to Share”
Our Easter Vigil Party is the first celebration of Easter. Join us after the 7:30PM service in the McClain Room. This is a “Bring a Dish to Share” style event. Think “one bite” appetizers such as, mini quiche or pastries, sushi, cheese puffs, mini meatballs or crostini. Simply arrange your savories on an attractive plate and bring them to the kitchen, We’ll do the rest.
