The Gospel of Mark
From Raphael to the recently completed, hand-written and beautifully illustrated, St. John’s Bible, artists have been putting their mark on the Gospel message.  Join us to explore the Gospel of Mark and how the painter influences our understanding of the Gospel message.

Trust:Faye the Zebra trusts her community, just like Abraham trusted the Lord and celebrated his new home.

Love: Amy the Red Colobus monkey loves young people, just like Joseph's dad loved Joseph.

The Gospel of Matthew
We look at the Gospel of Matthew, from Deacon Heath's experience of walking the path of Jesus in today's Israel/Palestine. How are the ancient sites in the Holy Land experienced by today's Christian pilgrim?

Care: Sam the Meerkat cares for strangers, just like the Good Samaritan did.

The Gospel of Luke
“Humor is the only test of gravity, and gravity of humor; for a subject which will not bear raillery is suspicious, and a jest which will not bear serious examination is false wit.”(Aristotle)
On the third night of the Lenten program, we will spend a few minutes looking at selected scenes from, The Life of Brian, the classic 1979 Monty Python parody of the life of Jesus, with an eye to examining how the nature of the humor informs our strengths and frailties as individual followers of Christ and members of the Christian community as a whole. Bring your sense of humor, prepare to laugh at yourself.

Share: Jonathan the Giraffe shares nursery duty with other giraffes caring for their young, just like Philip shared faith with a stranger.

The Gospel of JohnJesus: Superhero Archetype?
“In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God…” So begins the Gospel of John. Jesus is clearly no ordinary man. “John lays more stress on the divinity of Jesus than do any of the other Gospels, so much so that Jesus is presented as being alien to this world.” (Introduction: The Gospel According to John – Harper Collins Study Bible, 2006, p. 1815) How has this view of Jesus informed believers and non-believers alike over the millennia to follow? Why did He come?
