In addition to our outreach efforts for the significant needs of our region, we are looking beyond our shores. Today’s world is truly a global community, a world sharing cultures, resources, trade, ideals and needs, a world in which we have as much to gain from the cultures of others as they do from us.

The Global Mission Committee has as its mission to extend a hand of friendship and tangible support, when appropriate, to the world around us.

As a priority, we are establishing relationships with our companion dioceses of Renk, Sudan and SE Mexico. These partnerships have already been established by the Diocese of Chicago as “Companion Dioceses.” |
|
In June 2005, a group traveled to SE Mexico to begin a long term relationship with this diocese. The Church was able to provide a donation of almost $4,000 to assist the people of the region. Since then, Bishop Benito Martinez and his wife Anjelica have visited Christ Church several times.
Christ Church sent another delegation of adults and youth to that region in June, 2006. (see slide show)

The work of the committee takes on many facets, including forging partnerships with parishes among our companion dioceses, mission trips to develop and sustain these relationships and assess needs that various communities may have. |
|
We have begun a partnership with St. Michael's Parish in Renk, Sudan. If all goes as planned, will be funding the salaries of two clergy at the church with a three year commitment in this very needy region of the world. |
